Randy Wolf showed why he was an all-star a few years ago. He hit a double and scored the first Phillies run, and got out of a bases loaded jam early in the game. That gave him enough confidence to pitch a gem tonight for the Phils.
Billy Wagner continues to struggle, he gave up a homer in the 9th tonight. Hopefully he'll find his usual shutdown form, as the Phils push forward. They were 15-13 in May, and have just begun a 13 game homestand. They played the most games on the road this half in the entire majors.
Another note from tonight, Mike Lieberthal caught in his 1,000th game for the Phillies, congratulations Mike. People don't understand how tough it is to catch that many games. I'm not just saying that because I was a catcher either. You have to be the game's leader day in and day out, you have to manage your pitching staff, and it's tough on the knees as well. He's a warrior.
You could really sense that Barry Bonds wasn't playing for the Giants tonight. The Phils got attendance of about 23,000, whereas when the Giants have come to town in the past, they've sold out every game. Barry is good for the game and bad at the same time I guess.
More on that topic later.
